The Meta Quest 3 VR headset is an enterprise-grade, standalone Mixed Reality headset with PC-VR compatibility. The Quest 3 features a reduced form factor, thanks to Pancake Optics, an improved 4K+, 120Hz display, and an upgraded Qualcomm XR2 Gen2 chipset. First, the Meta Quest 3 has a 4K+ 2064×2208 Pixel per eye display, which is a significant improvement over the Meta Quest 2 and Quest Pro. The display resolution, increased by 30% compared to its predecessor, allows you to fully experience the high-quality visuals provided by the XR2 Gen 2 Processor. Additionally, the display offers a 120Hz refresh rate, supporting smooth visuals for intense, demanding, or high-paced simulations and experiences.
Second, the Meta Quest 3 VR is equipped with a Snapdragon XR2 Chipset, making it one of the most premium and powerful standalone VR headset chips available. This enables you to run more demanding and powerful simulations and experiences without encountering performance issues. Additionally, the headset features 8GB of RAM, allowing you to either use the headset for multitasking and running various applications simultaneously or for running a single, highly demanding application.
Third, the Meta Quest 3 features a reduced form factor thanks to the use of Pancake Lenses, replacing the existing Fresnel Lenses found on the Quest 2. These Pancake lenses reduce the bulk of the headset by 40%, creating a lighter and smaller form factor. The battery for the Quest 3 is integrated into the front of the headset, but the smaller form factor prevents any noticeable weight on the front of the headset.
The smaller design and lighter headset results that the Meta Quest 3 design feels a lot more modern compared to the Quest 2.
Fourth, the Meta Quest 3 is a mixed reality headset, thanks to its four 4MP high-fidelity, full-color passthrough cameras located on the front. Additionally, the headset features a depth sensor and hand tracking, enabling users to better interact with overlays over their existing reality.
The Meta app store offers over 500 virtual reality and mixed reality titles, opening up new possibilities for the headset, such as playing board games over real-life surfaces.
